Why Do We Snore?
An estimated 25% of adults snore regularly, and for their bed partners, chronic snoring is one of the most common reasons couples end up sleeping in separate rooms. Beyond the relational strain, chronic heavy snoring can be a sign of obstructive sleep apnea — a serious health condition we screen for during every snoring consultation.
At KA Dental, we offer two proven dental-based treatments for snoring: custom oral appliances that reposition your jaw during sleep to keep your airway open, and DEKA QuietNite laser therapy, a non-invasive in-office treatment that gently tightens the soft tissues responsible for snoring. Many patients benefit from one or the other; some benefit from a combination.
Custom Anti-Snoring Oral Devices
Mandibular advancement devices (MADs) look similar to a sports mouthguard or orthodontic retainer and are worn only during sleep. The device holds your lower jaw slightly forward, which keeps your tongue and soft tissues from collapsing into your airway.
Custom-fitted: We take impressions of your teeth and have the device manufactured to fit you precisely. Off-the-shelf anti-snoring devices sold online often don't work well and can cause jaw issues.
Effective for most patients: Clinical studies consistently show custom oral appliances reduce or eliminate snoring in the majority of patients who wear them consistently.
Comfortable and portable: No machines, no hoses, no electricity — just slip it in before bed. Great for travel and much more partner-friendly than a CPAP.
Adjustable: Most modern devices can be fine-tuned over time for comfort and effectiveness.
Before recommending an oral appliance, we rule out obstructive sleep apnea — because treating snoring without addressing underlying sleep apnea can mask a serious health problem.
The DEKA QuietNite Snoring Treatment
The DEKA QuietNite is a laser-based snoring treatment that uses the DEKA CO₂ laser to gently tighten the soft tissues at the back of the throat — the tissues that vibrate and produce the snoring sound when they're loose and floppy.
No surgery, no anesthesia, no downtime. Each session takes under 10 minutes. You're fully awake. You drive yourself home.
A short treatment series. Most patients complete 3 sessions spaced a few weeks apart for lasting results.
Gradual improvement: Snoring typically reduces progressively over the treatment series and the months after. Many patients see significant improvement after the first session.
A great option for mouth-piece-averse patients: If you know you won't wear an oral appliance every night — or if you've tried one and hated it — QuietNite is a hands-off alternative worth considering.
