What Is All-on-6?
All-on-6 follows the same full-arch concept as All-on-4 — replace every tooth in an arch with a fixed bridge supported by dental implants — but uses six implants instead of four. The additional implants distribute bite force more evenly across the jaw and provide extra stability for patients with stronger chewing demands or for cases where the bone structure favors more anchor points.
Whether All-on-6 is better than All-on-4 for you depends on your specific anatomy, bone density, and bite strength. Some patients benefit significantly from the added support; others get equivalent long-term results with four. This is a conversation we have during consultation after reviewing your 3D CBCT imaging.
Benefits of All-on-6 vs. All-on-4
More stability and chewing force. With six implants distributed more evenly across the jaw, All-on-6 can support stronger bite force — particularly helpful for patients who want to eat tougher foods or have a stronger bite than average.
Better load distribution. More implants means the force of chewing is spread across more points, which can extend the lifespan of the prosthesis and reduce wear on individual implants.
Often a better fit for the upper arch. The upper jaw tends to have less dense bone than the lower, so some patients get better long-term results with six implants rather than four in the upper arch.
Backup redundancy. If one implant ever has an issue, the remaining five can often continue supporting the bridge during treatment — something that's not as reliable with just four.
Same-day possible. Like All-on-4, All-on-6 can often be completed as a same-day procedure with temporary teeth placed immediately and a final bridge attached after healing.
Is All-on-6 Right for You?
All-on-6 tends to be the better choice when: you have sufficient bone to support six implants (especially in the upper jaw where bone density is typically lower); you have a strong bite or want to prioritize chewing force for tougher foods; you prefer extra redundancy for long-term peace of mind; your dentist's 3D imaging shows that your specific anatomy benefits from the additional implants.
All-on-4 may be the better call when: you have limited bone and want to avoid bone grafting; you want a more affordable full-arch solution; your bite force is average and four implants provide adequate support. We'll never push one option over the other — the right answer depends on your anatomy, lifestyle, and budget.
