Dental Implant Placement Process
Most people are qualified candidates for dental implants, but to be sure our dentists will conduct a thorough oral examination and check to make sure you have sufficient volume in your jawbone to support implants.
Although the entire tooth replacement is usually referred to as a dental implant, it actually consists of two parts: the dental implant and the tooth restoration. The implant is a small titanium screw or post that is surgically set in your jawbone. If you need only one tooth replaced, then only one implant is required.
Two or more teeth—even an entire arch of teeth—will require several implants. Each implant is positioned to take full advantage of the strength of your bone tissue.
The first phase of an implant procedure is known as the placement phase. During a placement procedure, one or more small, metal implants are surgically placed in the patient’s jawbone, where their old tooth roots used to be. The number of implants we place is determined by the number of teeth we need to restore. Implants are versatile enough to be paired with a single crown, or a more comprehensive prosthetic like a partial or full denture.
Most practices need to refer their patients to an oral surgeon for the placement phase, but not our teams in Palm Beach Gardens, Royal Palm Beach or Jupiter. Dr. Krunal Patel and Dr. Aditi Patel offer full-service implant care. That means you can have both phases of your treatment completed by the team you already know and trust.
The first step for anyone considering dental implants is to schedule a consultation with either our Palm Beach Gardens, Royal Palm Beach or Jupiter team. During your visit, we will complete a full oral exam to assess whether implants are right for you. Many patients are perfectly qualified for treatment with implants while others do not have the necessary bone structure in place. If you fall into this second category, we will be happy to recommend an alternative solution.
